Sending and use policy

Reach the right desk. Do not reach every desk.

These rules make the boundary explicit for the corpus, for exports and for the sending machinery. They exist because the cost of getting this wrong falls on journalists who did not ask to be written to.

What is normal use?

Researching outlets and journalists whose work relates to what you are announcing.
Saving relevant records and maintaining your own media-relations pipeline.
Sending a relevant, identified, unsubscribable message to a targeted segment.
Exporting supported records for your own lawful work.
Publishing a release you have the right to publish.

What is not allowed?

Sending to the whole corpus, or to a segment chosen for size rather than for relevance.
Contacting anyone who has unsubscribed or been suppressed, by any route, including exporting them and mailing them elsewhere.
Forging or misrepresenting a sender identity, subject line or organisation, or sending on behalf of a company that has not authorised you.
Breaking an embargo, including one you set.
Scraping, bulk extraction, credential sharing or bypassing access controls.
Reselling or republishing the corpus, or using it to build a competing dataset.
Harassment, deception, discrimination, or contact that ignores a valid objection.
Security testing that harms users or accesses data beyond what is needed to demonstrate a flaw.

What does the product enforce on its own?

One-click unsubscribe on every message, a global do-not-send list that outranks any later automated verdict, audience resolution at send time rather than at schedule time, and a preflight check that can block a send outright. An embargo outranks everything, including an operator pressing send.

These are a floor, not a compliance service. They stop several specific mistakes; they do not make an unlawful campaign lawful, and they do not shift responsibility for content away from the sender.

What happens when these rules are broken?

Sending may be suspended immediately while misuse is investigated — for abuse, the send gate is the first thing to close and the last to reopen. Access may be limited, records or releases removed, and serious abuse preserved and reported where law requires it. Notice goes to the registered seat in the legal notice; the internal appeal procedure and its response times are still to be written down.
